Force India confirms Pérez for 2014

Force India confirms Pérez for 2014
14:00 – Sergio Pérez will join Force India for the 2014 Formula 1 campaign. The Mexican, who was dropped by McLaren after just one term, partners the already confirmed Nico Hülkenberg on a "multi-year" deal.
Having spent the first two seasons of his F1 career at Sauber, Pérez made the step up to McLaren at the beginning of the year, but a selection of challenging race weekends mixed with the Woking-based outfit's eagerness to promote the highly-rated Kevin Magnussen ultimately saw him brushed aside.
After weeks of negotiations, initially boosted by McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh actively promoting Pérez's services to rival teams, the 23-year-old has penned a deal with Force India, which becomes his third F1 team.
"It's great to announce my new team as Sahara Force India," said Pérez. "Coming here was always my first choice and I'm really happy everything has now been confirmed.
"I want to say thank you to [team boss] Vijay [Mallya] and the whole team for giving me the opportunity. This is a young team with a lot of determination and they've produced competitive cars for the last few years.
"It's all change for next season with the new regulations, but I already have a good feeling about 2014. My plan now is to visit the factory and get to know everyone in the team."
The decision casts doubt over the Formula 1 futures of both Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil.

  1. Well, this was always on the cards ...... it will be interesting to see if he fairs any better than Paul di Resta.
